Ferries are popular mode of public transportation between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Besides, ferries are the only transport to outlying islands, such as Lamma, Cheung Chau, Peng Chau.
Below is the list of popular ferry routes.


Star Ferry

Star Ferry is a world-famous sightseeing trip between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. There are two routes: Tsim Sha Tsui - Central and Tsim Sha Tsui - Wan Chai. This service across Victoria Harbour runs daily from early morning till 11-11:30pm with a frequency 8-20 minutes. The journey takes 8-10 minutes.

Operating Hours:
Tsim Sha Tsui <-> Central: 6:30am - 11:30pm.
Tsim Sha Tsui -> Wan Chai: 7:20am - 10:50pm (Mondays to Saturdays); 7:30am - 10:50pm (Sundays and Public Holidays).
Wan Chai -> Tsim Sha Tsui: 7:30am - 11:00pm (Mondays to Saturdays); 7:40am - 11:00pm (Sundays and Public Holidays).

North Point - Hung Hom

This service is operated by New World First Ferry Services Ltd. The journey takes about 8-9 minutes and ferries run every 30 minutes. Adult Fare is HK$5.5; Child (3-11), Senior (65 or above) or Disable - HK$2.8.

Operating Hours:
North Point -> Hung Hom: 7:23am - 7:23pm.
Hung Hom -> North Point: 7:05am - 7:35pm.


North Point - Kowloon City

This service is operated by New World First Ferry Services Ltd. The journey takes about 14-15 minutes and ferries run every 30 minutes. Adult Fare is HK$5.5; Child (3-11), Senior (65 or above) or Disable - HK$2.8.

Operating Hours:
North Point -> Kowloon City: 7:17am - 7:17pm.
Kowloon City -> North Point: 7:05am - 7:35pm.


Cheung Chau Island

There are two types of ferry services that serve Cheung Chau Island. Both are located at Central Ferry Pier #5 on Hong Kong Island. The first is Ordinary Ferry Service and the journey takes about an hour. The second is Fast Ferry Service and the journey takes about 40 minutes. Ferries run every 30-45 minutes during the daytime and evening.

Central -> Cheung Chau Island: 04:15am to 01:30am
Cheung Chau Island -> Central: 05:10am to 02:20am

Lamma Island

Located south-west of Hong Kong Island, Lamma Island is a nice way to spend a half of a day. In order to get to the island, simply take a ferry at Central Ferry Pier #4 in Central. Lamma Island is served by two main ferry terminals, Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan. Ferries between Central and Yung Shue Wan run every 20-30 minutes in the morning and evening, and every 45-60 minutes during the daytime. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Ferries between Central and Sok Kwu Wan run almost every hour, and the journey takes 30-40 minutes.

Central -> Yung Shue Wan: 6:30am - 12:30am (Mondays to Saturdays); 7:30am - 12:30am (Sundays and Public Holidays).
Yung Shue Wan -> Central: 6:20am - 11:30pm (Mondays to Saturdays); 6:40am - 11:30pm (Sundays and Public Holidays).
Central -> Sok Kwu Wan: 7:20am - 11:30pm.
Sok Kwu Wan -> Central: 6:45am - 10:40pm.

Central -> Mui Wo: 6:10am - 12:30am (Mondays to Saturdays); 7:00am - 12:30am (Sundays and Public Holidays).
Mui Wo -> Central: 5:55am - 11:30pm (Mondays to Saturdays); 6:20am - 11:30pm (Sundays and Public Holidays).

Peng Chau Island

Ferries to Peng Chau depart from the Central Ferry Pier #6. There are two types: Ordinary Ferry and Fast Ferry. The journey on Ordinary Ferry takes 40 minutes, on Fast Ferry takes about 30 minutes. Ferries run almost every 45 minutes (Monday to Saturday). On Sundays and Public Holidays, ferries run every 50-55 minutes.

Operating Hours:
Central -> Peng Chau: 7:00am - 12:30am.
Peng Chau -> Central: 5:30am - 11:30pm (Mondays to Saturdays); 6:30am - 11:35pm (Sundays and Public Holidays).
